Key Worker Grant

In a bid to keep property affordable for local buyers in Melbourne’s west, Villawood’s latest initiative, the Key Worker Grant, is assisting essential workers to purchase land at ‘Alamanda’ in Point Cook.

Recognising the important role key workers such as teachers, nurses, police, emergency services play in local communities, our most recent program offers key workers, working in the local community a $25,000 grant when buying land at Alamanda.

The initiative comes as a response to exorbitant land price growth in Point Cook. The $25,000 grant covers stamp duty and makes a monetary contribution toward a buyer’s deposit. Proving popular with buyers at Alamanda, local nurse and midwife, Jonathan and Georgia Nabie took up the offer after a tiresome search for affordable land in Melbourne’s west.

“ The Key Worker Grant really helped us out and allowed us to get our foot on the step ladder of the property market – and now build our own home.

“ We have been renting in the area and have been keeping a close eye on the property market – both established house and land prices have just been going up and up, so once we heard about the opportunity to save $25,000 on land and build a new home we jumped at the chance to purchase,” Mr Nabie said.
